Before returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Taika Waititi will take up the original project. The director will again collaborate with the studio Fox Searchlight, for which he directed the satirical comedy "Jojo the Rabbit."
The title and details of the plot of the future film, in which Waititi will perform as a screenwriter and director, were not disclosed.
The producer Garrett Bash (“My Girlfriend is a Monster”, the series “What We Do in the Shadow”) will be invited to work on a project that is scheduled to begin shooting in the fall of 2019.
In 2020, Waititi will begin filming the movie comic “Thor: Love and Thunder” with Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth in the lead roles. For the sake of the Marvel film, the director suspended work on the adaptation of the Akira manga, which was postponed indefinitely.
Jojo's Rabbit is the story of a ten-year-old boy who has lost his father and is trying to find his place in an unusual world. Peers only make fun of him, and mother believes that the child himself comes up with problems. In the hope of getting a replacement for his missing father, the boy makes himself an imaginary friend — Adolf Hitler, who does not at all look like the Fuhrer of the Third Reich, familiar to everyone.
The picture will be released in American rental on October 18.
